Tradujo al castellano a las autoras estadounidenses Mei-mei Berssenbrugge (Me encantan los artistas, Kriller 71, 2019) y Muriel Rukeyser (US1, Ultramarinos, 2022). Junto a Jesse Lee Kercheval tradujo al inglés Para las focas/For the Seals del poeta uruguayo Juan Manuel Sánchez (Toad Press, 2019). Su trabajo poético y ensayístico, parcialmente traducido al inglés y al portugués, ha aparecido en antologías y revistas de América Latina, Europa y Estados Unidos como Candela Review, Shangrila, El Cuaderno y Revista Kokoro. Colabora como columnista para el suplemento cultural del periódico La nueva España. Desde 2015, desarrolla un ensayo visual en instagram donde documenta y explora desde la fotografía temas de lugar y pertenencia. Ruth vive y escribe entre Chicago y Asturias con su pareja y sus dos perros. I like to think that estructuras is, more than anything, a conceptual book, an object, that reflects about the different formulations, concretions, and abstractions of the ‘house.’ With texts in prose and verse, I reflect and create different structures embedded within the margin of the inhabitable that have their reflection in Gabriel Viñals’ paintings on textile format. Written within a year, I wanted to assume the job of an arquitect of languages by developing not only a book, but also inhabitable spaces, shelters, cornerstones, homes, dwellings, pillars, images, ruins, alphabets, for those that find themselves in need of a portable place to rest, take shelter, celebrate or speak in a borrowed language that is, ultimately, undone.” “estructuras nace en 2014, un año antes de mudarme a Estados Unidos. She is the author of four poetry collections: tiembla (Point de Lunettes, 2014; Federico García Lorca University of Granada Poetry Prize, 2013); the artisanal chapbook estructuras (Ejemplar Único, 2015), in collaboration with artist Gabriel Viñals; umbral (Malasangre, 2017); and La primavera del saguaro (Ultramarinos, 2021). She translated to Spanish Mei-mei Berssenbrugge’s poetry collection I Love Artists: New and Selected Poems (Kriller 71, 2019) and Muriel Rukeyser’s U.S. 1 (Ultramarinos, 2022). With Jesse Lee Kercheval, she has translated to English Para las focas / For the Seals, a chapbook by Uruguayan poet Juan Manuel Sánchez (Toad Press, 2019). Her poetry and non-fiction work has appeared in anthologies and magazines from Latin America, Europe, and the US such as Candela Review, Shangrila, El Cuaderno, and Revista Kokoro, among other publications, and has been partially translated into English and Portuguese. She has collaborated as a columnist for the culture supplement at La nueva España. Since 2015, she has been curating a visual essay on Instagram where she documents and explores themes of place and belonging through photography. Ruth lives and writes between the Midwest and Northern Spain with her partner and their two dogs.
